mamba monster !!! - 05.10.2008, 11:56 PM

I got home tonight to the joy of a package all the way from Kansas. Finally after years of waiting and months of frustration from trying unsuccessfully to get my Inferno GT on the road with a 6s setup. It took me all of 40 minutes to get everything lined up, wired, soldered, double-sided taped, zip tied, and connected. Ahh, the moment of truth, geeze what a spark from 6s! Back to soldering, got to have a resistor to tame that nonsense. Done,... lets try again,... thats much better. Power on,... listen to the six beeps from the controller,... anticipation mounts,... wait, hold your horses,... lets get configured first. Power off,... power back on while holding full throttle,... configuration complete,... quick blip of the throttle to confirm forward rotation, yesssss. I pick my car up and head for the front door, fan buzzing in my ear and seems to be getting faster. Open the front door and start down the stairs to the dimly lit street in front of my house. Four more steps to go when....the fan stops. "Man do I love Castle, they even have smart circuitry for fan on and off", I think to myself, but then I notice.......hey, where is the yellow light that was there a second ago. I hear the gods laughing at me faintly as I re-enter my home.

THE END

This is the 3rd or 4th failure I've read about with identical symptoms. I'm wondering if they had a batch go through manufacturing with either an incorrect component value or bad lot of parts.

I am going to put it to the test with a Neu 1521 1.5D, but it really doesn't even matter my setup I don't think, as I never got to sit the car on the ground to run it. The only action I ever saw from it was while still on my car stand. Even that was just a quick blip on my controller, as I was just verifying my motor wiring. Between the car stand and my front porch, it died while carrying it in my hand. I wasn't revving it or anything.

Can you use an external reciever pack instead of using the internal BEC to avoid any problems?

Mine is from the second batch and it is working flawlessly. I used it for about 15 minutes last night on 6s2p a123 and 5s 8k lipos. Very smooth and didn't get over 90F.

Phatmonk - I'm on my 10th monitor now because of your damn avitar......

Seriously, though. These little issues are bound to come up. We havent heard from most of the guys that have them installed and running well. Thats the nature of the internet. You only really hear about the extreme's - those that have problems, and those that love theirs obcessively. It's likely a small percentage that are going to have the problem.
