What batt. - 09.18.2005, 10:12 PM

Hey Guys, AJs E MAXX is running great after your help thanks. I would like to buy a couple more pairs of 7 cell batt. is it cheaper to make my own, is it hard to make my own, and whats a good brand for the money. I would like 3300 or 3600 mah he gets a little more run time from those.

P.S. I like the thought of lipos but after pricing thats as far as I got LOL. :D

It's not hard persay, but if you 've never don it before it can be tricky. You need a good iron & the deans battery jig is highly recomended. For a few dollars you can get a assembled pack well worth the few bucks in my opinion. Mike sells both the gp cells 3300's or 3700's, and ibc cells 3600's & 3800's. He can hook you up.

It really come down to whether you going to change the cells around or not. If you going to get them and run them in one type of truck. I think it is just as good to buy them assembled. If you like me and some of the other guys and maybe gals( don't want to be sexess) where we change the cell count and configuration. If you looking for some serious run time. I think the ibc should be good. Lipos seem to have the highest mah though.

Yea I probrably should have been more specific the batt. will only go in AJs E MAXX. I had some 7 cells made at or local hobby shop, AJ did a cool jump and the 7th cell fell off.I tried to fix but seems like I could not get it to hold on tight. Maybe I should go with assembled packs.

Whats a good brand for the money? 3300-3700 mah.

Do you have to do any coversion to switch to lipo?

The gp batteries are good. The ibc batteries are good. Never ran ibc but the specs and every one else says they good.
It takes a good soldering iron for batteries. I bought a 100 watter just for batteries. A little bit of ca glue should help with keeping battery on the other cells. It is not hard booda for soldering batteries. Just patients. Here is a site to help with decision on to make or not to make.

was the 7th cell connected with a battery bar? My 7cell packs from maxamps took the abuse just fine. Did you get a soldering iron or gun? The 100 watt gun didn't work for me reconfiguring my packs built by maxamps, but the 60 watt iron by Hobbico worked well.

I think its a 1oo watt gun. and it was a bar that held the 7th cell on but it did not look like it had enough salder to hold the cell on well. since I wont be taking these batt. apart can I just glue them the inst. coolhand sent said to glue the packs or at least the 7th cell.

Try www.cheapbatterypacks.com . I had my packs made there. They custom build and charge less than $6 per cell for 3300, including the labour costs, they also heatshrinked my pack. Whenever I get packs, I always get them from there.
