The way it died was weird though. it died after a slow reverse, it did not let smoke out. the way the quark died was spectacular and the the way the MM died was my fault for plugging 5s into the MM. I'm considering going 4s since I can't get WOT on 5s anywhere unless I set the slipper loose, then it slips and throws pads. it has sooo much power.
If I decide to stay with 5s i'm using an ubec....

Does it work it you leave the red wire in and use an Ubec. Can you reverse power the brain board I wonder....

No, i did not try ubec, was not soldering just to test, but pulled red wire and tried rx pack I had on hand. only got steering.
and it decided to castle link again, i reinstalled the drivers on my pc. but still will not power on, and the fan just twitches when you flip the power switch.

I wouldn't try that if it were me. With doing so, he'd be backfeeding voltage across the BEC circuit that has already failed and he measured to be 1.47V at the output. There's some sort of low impedance shunt in that circuit and applying an external Rx pack will apply 5V directly across that low impedance. I'd bet that there will be some smoke as a result.

Well, I just had the same problem. After the first 5 min of running my bec went to 1.09 volts. I came in and tried a receiver pack and everything runs fine off of it. My setup is a 9xl on 6s in a 3905.

Wow, I'm surprised. I'm curious as to how much current the Rx pack is having to provide in this instance. Does the Castle Link work on yours without having to power the ESC with a Rx pack?

I'm done messing with it. If I damage it further trying to breathe life into I ruin Patrick's ability to determine failure point. I would like to see this issue get resolved for future generations of the ESC. So I am done tinkering with it.

when i get mine , i think ill try mine on my 3s 8000mah pack on my 8T with my neu 1515 1y/f motor, ive been running 3s on my 8T since the begining of the year when a cell went bad in my 4s 8000mah pack, and i made it into a 3s pack....
it doesnt have monster torque, it runs/feels like a nitro, a hair more power overall witch is just fine its easyer to drive at my backyard track... And when i finaly go to my local race tracks to finaly race it (havent been racing in a few years cus im handycap/in a electric wheelchair an need someone to me hook up batterys an fix stuff, etc,, PLUS I CANT WALK/GET UP THE 12-15 FEET HIGH DRIVERS STAND, SO I HAVE TOO BRING MY OWN 2' to 3' HIGH ONE THAT 8' x 8' with a 8-12' ramp I CAN DRIVE UP WITH MY WHEELCHAIR SO I CAN SEE THE HOLE TRACK(i have to make a new one too cus my old one is rooted out, so its going to be a while till i go raceing, plus i have too make it come apart in 2 or 3 peices so it will fit in my van or in my trailer).....
but i do want too run 4s an 5s on my 1515 1y(2200kv), im not sure if i should try 6s, i know more volts is better, an the monster mamba is rated for 6s, im not going to try untill others tryed it, besides 5s is balistic, cant see running 6s all the time, mabey just for onroad speed runs, but thats for my motor/truggy combo... with a 1800kv or lower motor i cn see the need for 6s..
anyways, im in the second batch so hopefully it just a bad batch....but still only 1-2% of the monsters are going bad....thats not bad.... 1 or 2 out of every 100....
it sounds like the bec is going bad an frying the board...or a bad componet...
im not sure how many they make at one time(or how many fets or componets they buy in each batch)
id say they probley make 20-50 at one time......
and mabey get the same amount of componets.....
THIS IS WHAT I THINK......
so i think theres 20-50 bad ones out there that they made...
im sure castle will fix the problem if there is one a.s.a.p.
an for those who have blowen theres up, i know castle will fix urs or just send u a new one, u just have to pay an ship it to them and they will pay to ship it back, it should only take 1-2weeks to get back to u....
Castle is way better then Novak/aveox/ or hacker.lol..... there customer servise is second to none....

Nope, cl doesn't even see that it is connected to the computer. The weird thing is after I connected the receiver pack I disconnected it to put a Castle bec in its place and tried it again and it worked normally for a few minutes then flaked out again.

I'm willing to bet the power from your PC USB port isn't capable of providing enough current to run it. That's likely why you can't see it with CL. Powering it with an RX pack while connected to CL may solve that issue.

Sorry for the off topic but could you please tell me your whole set-up & run time? car,Motor, gearing. I just finished an MBX5 conversion & am using A123-6s. Plan on testing later tonight.
