you can go as low as 3 volts per cell, I like to set mine @3.3 volts per cell...I have noticed when set at 3.0 vpc you will see a noticable dropoff in performance before it hits the LVC

I noticed the same thing. I set my lvc a bit higher, like 3.1v to 3.2v per cell. I like the extra insurance, just in case the pack goes out of balance. Plus it is a good idea if you are running a pair of packs in series. One pack may be slightly better than the other and the weaker could drop below 3v per cell, while the stronger has enough voltage to keep the lvc from kicking in.
'noticeable' performance drop.... sounds like you guys need some A123 packs.

I can feel the a123 get weaker a minute or 2 before they dump as well. I dont think that they are any better than a decent lipo in that department IMO.

Really? I think you are full of it jhautz I don't notice any performance drop at all, in fact, my 7s1p pack seems to get equal power all the way through... I attribute this to the fact that it warms up a bit and that is why the performance holds up all the way through.
BTW, you have to remember that lipo's are only being discharged to ~90% DOD, and A123's are 100%...

No... I'm not kidding. I can always tell about a minute before they are about to dump. I can just feel that edge drop off and I can say without fail when they are about dead. I typically just stop running when I feel this and recharge rather than pushing them to the edge.

so i set mine to 12.4 and how does the mmm lvc work? does it just shut my car down once it hits 12.4? today was the first time i ran my truck till the lipo was low. the batteries had a veerrrry noticable change in speed but my lvc still didnt turn on. i ran it for another 30 secs and decided to shut it down cus it was scaring me.

it will do that when the LVC is set @3.0 or close to that, which is why I set mine @ 3.3vpc, if it slows down anyways you might as well set it there
I agree with jeff - I actually feel the same on my lipo's and A123's.
I normally bring the car in as soon as the edge somes off - by the time I've come back home and put them on the charger they've "self recovered" to about 3.6/3.7v (lipo) which is fine by me. It is quick enough to change a pack out rather than keep hitting the lvc.
