Couldn't you mount it on the lower deck and just move the whole diff assembly forward?

Like this. This is my G2R Revo with one of Dafs center dif mounts in it. The diff is totally forward and allows the motor to sit low, almost in between the rails of the chassis. With a little creativity you could probably get it even farther forward on a Maxx. With the revo you start running into the shock positions that cause more problems.








Here is an earlier incarnation of it with a 1521 just to show you that a longer motor will fit. I would think that on the maxx you could find another 6mm to fit the 1527 you are planning.
