Hahaha,

We went with 4mm plugs because the wires coming out of all of these fit into a 4mm plug. If you are running a 1515/1D, bigger plugs are recommended, but I don't think we aren't going to be offering that wind in the future. We opted not to put any connectors on the 1.5D. The wires are just a hair thicker than a 4mm plug, so we'll leave that to the customer to decide. The 1Y, 2.5D, and 3D all have the 4mm plugs however. We didn't feel a need to connect bigger wire to the smaller stator wires. The higher the turn count, the smaller the wires from the stator. A bigger plug just requires more solder so we (Tekno and Neu) didn't feel a bigger plug would be necessary for these.

How long would it take to start having some blue smooth cans available? I called and someone mentioned a few months.

That is correct. Since these are handmade and Neu is pretty busy already, getting something to market unfortunately takes a little longer. We're definitely planning on it though.
