Battery Questions - 05.19.2008, 04:22 PM

Hello all, i'm new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself, the name is shawn and im a 20yr old college student. I recently got back into the rc bug after a 5 year hiatand have orded the new slash as well as the velineon system and a Maxamps 5000 mAH rtr lipo kit.
Eventually i plan on getting the new E-revo and setting it up for brushless and 6s lipo, my question to you guys is will i be able to connect two 3s packs instead of one 6s. This way i would have two packs that i could use on my slash instead of just one.

Thanks for any replys

yes you can run two 3s 5000mah packs in a series to make one 6s (22.2v) 5000mah. if you really plan on doing this i would goahead and order your other 3s 5000 pack and try to alternate which one you use in the slash to keep the same number of cycles on each so that they will be as equal as possible when you hook them up in the revo as one pack.

someone else correct me if im wrong but i think your supposed to keep the same number of cycles on each of the packs if you run them all the way to cutoff voltage in a series very much so that one pack doesnt drop a little bit below the 3.0v per cell accidentally.

Yes it is best to run them the same amount (together being the best). Also not a bad idea to run higher cut off voltage, like 3.2 volts a cell.

i dont know if the velineon system has an adjustible voltage cut off, when setting it up you simply turn it on or off, i will look in the manual and see what it says though, Thanks!

no not on the veilon but when you run them in a series in the erevo, you want to have the voltage cutoff set a little higher just case one pack falls off before the other.

ok thanks, im sure that whatever esc i end up getting for the revo will enable me to adjust the cut off point, i plan on going fairly high end with that setup (probly end up spending all the money i make during summer on rc related stuff....lol)
