Brushless Buggies, Truggies and -
05.23.2008, 07:24 PM
Here is my current collection of converted brushless (from nitro) RC buggies and trucks. I have completely put away my nitro for now. There are two 1/8 scale buggies, a 1/8 truggy, 1/10 monster truck and 1/12 truggy. I converted the Revo about a year and a half ago, the Kanai buggy about a year ago and the others less than a year. I have driven the nitro versions (before I converted them) and performance wise the brushless power is stunning, plus the maintenance is greatly reduced.

Starting from the left: Jammin CRT.5 (Feigao 9L, Mamba Max), Revo 3.3 (Feigao 9XL, disc brake), Kyosho ST-RR (Neu 1515, Mamba Max, disc brake), Kyosho Kanai (Neu 1512, Mamba Max, disc brake), Cen Matrix (Feigao 8XL, motor brake).

Mike_D, wow that's a tough one. Right now I am jazzed over my ST-RR because it is my most recent conversion, but you know what I really like my Jammin CRT.5. I think it takes far more skill to drive fast and is the most challenging and most fun as well.

That's cool, i'm a big fan of anything Kyosho so obviously i like your collection. Those CRT .5's do look fast and very challenging to drive.

tc3_racer_001, here you go. The Kyosho Kanai was really dirty from last week at the track (haven't had a chance to clean it, been working on the ST-RR). I just finished turning the brake servo on the Kanai 90 degrees. The UBEC is unplugged as well, I found one of the wires was broken and needed repairs.

Kyosho Kanai - Neu 1512 - Custom motor mount/batt tray - mechanical brakes.

Cen Matrix - Feigao 8XL - RC-Monster motor mount - custom batt tray - motor braking

e-mike, the stock Mamba Max heatsink just fell off one day, so rather than glue the stocker back on I installed a PC northbridge heatsink I had that looked like it would keep the ESC cooler (more surface area). There is a fan attached on the far end of the heatsink (on the rear side), it works very well and the Mamba runs very cool.

e-mike, my buggies are on the heavy side because I over build for durability. The motor mount, servo brackets, battery tray are heavy duty. I drive my buggies long and hard and I don't want things falling apart. My Kyosho Kanai weights 8lbs 9oz with a 4s lipo, the CEN buggy is a little lighter at 8lbs 3oz with a 4s lipo mainly because it doesn't have any of the mechanical brake parts (rotor, pads, servo, etc.).

Hey thanks guys. I used to take my nitro and brushless buggies but switching back and forth was screwing up my driving. So I recently stop taking my nitro vehicles, and just run my brushless stuff. No more, fuel spills/clean-up, glo plugs, clutch maintenance, starter box, rx batteries, etc. I drive the CRT.5 to warm-up, then move to the buggy for serious driving, then back and forth between the CRT.5 and truggy to fill out the day.
