This controller is doing an amazing job of starting the Mega without any issues. I just ran it again and I'm more impressed now. I ran my truck on a football field and it was awesome and you can really feel the difference with the Motor Start Booster. The controller ran cool for 8 minutes as the pack dumped on me. I can't complain and it put out a max of 2055 watts, avg. of 242 watts and a max of 121A, avg. of 12A. Not bad at all. The Mega is getting a beating though.

The ESC have forward/reverse/brake? If so can it disable the brake? I really think a 8S is what I need. I run A123 packs and 6s1p is a little short on runtime and 6s2p is kinda heavy. 9s1p would be just right, And a 8s lipo will handle 9s A123 just fine :)

I'm using the ACn22/30/2. Yes, the controller has forward/brake/reverse and I just came back from testing it again with the reverse option on and it works good.

Here are the Brake Settings:

1*: *No Brakes
2: Very soft brake
3: Soft brake
4: Hard brake
5: Very hard brake

*Default

Scorpion will offer 3 HV controllers as well, 2 will be 12S and one will be 15S. Scorpion will be using a better PCB for the new controllers to lower the resistance.

Are you using the 120 amp 6s version right now? Is this the same model as seen on fleabay or different in some way?

Also what is the expected cost to be of the 12s version? I assume the difference between the two 12s versions will be amperage, what will the two options be?

The one I have is the 120A 6S, but the ones being sold so far are for aircraft only. This is the only unit I know of that has the car/b mode working. Scorpion will go with a new PCB for the new units to lower the resistance. They are 1% lower then Kontronik and Georges doesn't like that. The 12S will be 90A and 130A and I don't know what AMP rating the 15S is.

So what's the word on when the car software will be available in all ESCs that scorpion sells? Also, around how much does the 120 amp 6s controller cost with the car software on there?

I haven't talked about price with them yet. I will most likely use their HV controllers for the kits I plan on making. I wanted to get the HV, but they only had this unit available. From what I've been told the new controllers will have a new PCB, heat sink, fan and from what Georges told me, he might redesign the controller to make the fan thermal active so the fan will only come on when needed. As soon as I get more info on the controllers, I'll come in and tell them. For now, I'll be testing this unit to see how it does. I will try other motors as well.

I will try it again on Monday with 4S lipos and I'll get to 3S as well. Castle controllers do have an upper hand on service as Castle is US based. The Scorpion does have the wireless programming which is much better then taking your laptop to the field. I changed the pinion for a larger one to push the controller to it's limits, but the Mega is not taking that too well. I will switch to one of my Aveox 1412/1.5Y and later go with my Kontronik FUN600-17 to keep everything in the 1700 or so Kv range. You can use the ACn22/30/1, but gear it properly so the motor won't overheat. The controller starts my Mega with no issues at all and if you grab a hand full of throttle it will give you a hand full of power with no start up issues. The controller is not out yet as Scorpion will use a different (Better) PCB and a larger heat sink with a thermal activated fan. After I added the bigger heat sink and fan to the controller, I can definitely say it's solid. The switching BEC is working great and that is good as I can use my Rx pack to power the fan.

bluegrooveconcepts used the same motor in their revo geared for 46mph according to them. i was planning on gearing it for about 40-45 and keeping my 2 speed in my revo. do you think the mamba max will be fine? its only on 3s and i will probably add a fan soon enough since i have one that isnt really necesary in another car. i do want something that will give a handful of power. and then some if at all possible. haha

Yes, the Mamba Max will be fine for 3S. Later when you do want to try 6S or higher with a different motor, you'll have more options to play with.

If you only plan on using 3S the Mamba Max will be your choice. When you want to upgrade later, you will have more choices to choose from.

Glad I can help. The Megas are great motors and they deserve a little spot light .
