anyone know if they will be adding the medusa motors to the asylum speed calculator?

Linc, I wash thinking along the same lines as you on the duct in the begining but after a couple attemps I trimed it to just blow around the motor. Given enough time I'm sure it is possible but I didn't feel like investing that much effort into a half beat body. The other minor issue is when I do end up on the roof there is enough body flex that the tube gets pretty beat up. I used thined epoxy over the whole tube to help give it some strength and to water proof it, it helped but still not perfect.

Hope the firmware helps with your temps John, I ended up needing a small fan on the ESC to keep it comfortable. I really wanted to avoid a fan if I could.

Guys, just a racing update from Saturday Night. I entered the Novice class with the 50-2200 V2 powered 8ight buggy. I used 12/46 gearing. The power system ran great and nothing got hot. It was about 70F out side and things were running 100F or so. (they were so cool I did not feel a need to get out the temp gun.) The heats were 5, 5, 10 minutes.

I am happy with this motor so far and the 4S / MM / CC BEC with no mods are working great.

Now I need to adjust / setup the car better and learn how to drive :) I am about 5 sec's a lap off of the good buggy driver times.

Sounds like good results. I just got an e-mail back from them, and within the next couple months they will be testing a 70mm long motor. Perfect for our monsters and truggies

That is great news, I wish it was sooner but It's just nice to have more than two or three brutaly expensive choices for large quality inrunners.


Jfruge, sounds like a good setup, did you feel like you needed any more power to keep up with the other buggies? or do you feel the 50mm motor is enough for a competitive (club level) buggy?

Unfortunately the first two winds they offer (2200 and 1600 Kv) won't be of much use to me. They should be good for many of you though. Hopefully a 2000 Kv wind won't be far behind.

They do have a 70mm coming and probably more kv choices too.

btw, I ran the 50mm 1300kv motor in the street yesterday. (6s and geared 15/46 in my kyosho buggy)

It ran nice, but my little torture test was too much for it, and I had to stop and let it cool cause it hit 200*

I'll have to do some more testing and try other gearing etc....

I think it will keep up with the club level buggys. I do need to gear up 1 to 2 teeth and get it set up better and run in that class to be sure.

The next race is in 2 weeks and will soon find out! That class is also runs a 20 minute main so I need to see if I can make it or if I need to come in for a battery swap.

Thats pretty tall gearing for a 50mm motor thats only spinning 27K.

You need to rethink when moving to a smaller motor, a 1515 might do fine that way but the little motor you have to let it spin fast and use gear reduction to replace the torque. Put that motor on 10s with a 9t pinion and see if it wont light your fire

That new 36-70-2200v2 will be awesome, I think I'll hold off on the 36-60 and get myself a 70 when they come out, 2200kv will be nuts on 6s A123

Anyone opened up one of these motors yet? From what I can see it looks like a neu or a plett inside. I have to run my hyper8 with the 36/60/1500 some more and see how it does. I hope the quark 125 can keep up as I am running 6s. That puts me around 33k rpm max, a little lower than I like, but the motor is making plenty of power and not getting hot. I think I am running 14/46 gearing at the moment. Need to do a full test and a vid, whenever I can get some help!

I know the gearing is a bit tall, but it does pull and accelerate very well, and there's only one way to find out what it can do. :)

I'm sure dropping about 2 teeth would be about right for general racing, etc. I'm curious to see how it will run on the track. I'm looking at the 36-60-2000 as a better motor, but others are saying the 50mm does ok, so I wanted to try one. I think the 6s and low kv will give it the best chance to work, but it will probably still take a milder speed setup. I need to clock mine to see how fast it actually is...

This motor is spinning slightly more rpm than my 1509 4s setup

Isn't the 1509 a slightly larger motor also?

Why not a 36-60-1300? The 36-50-2200 seems like it may have been a better first choice.
