yes, i may be wrong, but the bad ones were great for 50 or less runs then pretty much useless...

Had my Hyper 8 geared with a 16T pinion a while back and it was waaayyy too much for a small track.

Now I get about 30ish minutes of runtime with dual MA 8Ah 2s packs, 1512 2d/f, geared for around 45mph (14t pinion) and it is quite fast and still has tons of torque. Temps are very good too. Actually, it's almost too torquey for a small track geared at 14T.

I thought that 4S was kinda "the standard" because that was what ROAR (or whoever makes the rules) decided was the fairest max LiPo cell count to keep things even with nitros.

I had no idea that ROAR or any racing organization made a ruling on 1/8 electric.

I believe it may have been the RC Pro series that went with a 4S standard for electric 1/8th. I don't know that for sure, but I seem to remember reading that on rctech.net.

I'll just be doing club racing (probably against nitros) so nothing to serious. Just got to find more info on the TP V2 Batteries and if it is worth spending $45 more on a 5S over a 4S

My guess is that they went from 20C to 25C cells or some small change like that. They use Enerland cells, so I wouldn't hesitate to use them myself.

I just bought a bunch of TP V2 packs and my initial impressions are very good. My TP V2 5S 3850 keeps up just as good as my 5S Neu 3900 pack. No idea on longevity yet as they are all less than a month old.

Also picked up some 6S TP V2 2600 packs for when my XB8 when my 1512 3.5D Neu comes in.

Yeah the TP 5S 5000 is pretty much the same price as the Neu 5S 5000 but I have $400 credit at Amain that I got to use up but still don't want to use the $400 on crap batteries that don't last. No-one has the Hyperion Adaptor to TP balance tap, how long could I run the batteries till they need to be balanced?

The TP Extremes are one of the best batteries I've seen.

In fact the past 2 weekends in a row I went out to the track and have been driving my X-1 CR on an approximately 1.5 year old Extreme V1 3s 25C 2070 pack and it runs fine. The only problem with that setup is that the battery is too small both in cells and capacity. But, it's just to test the buggy and it gets me about 10 min. After I run that battery to the 9v cutoff it's a little hot but it stays balanced throughout the entire charge period.

The other battery that I ordered will be a lot better suited for the job (TP extreme 6s 3850). I figure I should get around 45-60 minutes with that pack.

Heli guys swear by Thunder Power's Extreme lineup including myself.
