Project: E-Mugen MBX5-T - 06.04.2008, 06:19 PM

Been thinking about this for awhile, and i'm doing it!

Already sold the engine, pipe, and starter box. Nitro stuff is GONE.....
These pics are from a few weeks ago but...

HERES THE VICTIM:

(Sorry a little dirty)

Plans are so far,

MMM
I want a Neu, but I had to get a 8XL.. boooo.
RCM Motor Mount(Maybe Castle Conversion? We'll see.)
Mod 1 13T pinion
Maxamps packs? truerc? flightpower?
Pretty open to ideas now..

Much more details coming soon....

Feel free to post what you want....whether you want to say I suck, or whether you think this will be a straight up nitro killer!

Peace

steve

well first off... you suck!
I have been wanting to do one of theses or the st-rr for a while just low on funds. I recommend flightpower (may be biased cause i own flightpower stuff) but have heard any enerland based cells are good. So in your list that is only flightpower. I have maxamps and they dont seem to perform nearly as well as my flighpower. Oh and go neu when you can. I finally switched (from an 8xl) to a neu 1515 1y and the smoothness and power is incredible. Just my .02

Hmmm....You don't need it, send the truggy to my unique disposal facility where it can be disposed of safely.

sans a new chassis and custom driveshafts, I see few other options for your proposed layout. But I personally hate mounting components on anything other than flat on the chassis and that goes fr the Rx as well. An alternative location, if you have a micro Rx like the spectrums, is in between the battery and the rear driveshaft. I assume you'll be using 5 Ah enerland cells so you'll find the battery cannot go that far forward. The weight will be screwed up if you choose a shorter taller pack pushed forward too much. I just converted a very similar truggy and can send you a pic.

You're on the right track, Steve. I'll keep an eye on your project.

Go for the RC-M parts!

Here is a RCM converted mbx5t - the battery box isn't installed(but obviously will go under the battery). The esc will be mounted behind the motor and the rx will likely sit on the chassis in front of the battery or perhaps on the steering servo. The left/right balance is near perfect with this setup and the entire truck is just under 10 pounds with the 5s 5000mah PQ pack shown. :)

IIRC mike may start making them but you can go for a rc production designs centre diff top plate which has a nice extension for mounting the ESC...

Yep I ordered a RCM motor mount 2 days ago, along with MM esc, CCBEC, 8XL, and 13T pinion, ALL from here!

Stuff is priced real well also I might add.

And thanks for posting in my thread Mike! Means alot!
I will attempt to duplicate the setup you have shown, I will play around with a few other things also. Once the parts get here i'll get some more pics

And man, I have never been so exited in a long time i'm going to add!!!!

Sweeeeet entjoles! Your really hooking me up here
If you ever need anything, please let me know!! I will be more than glad to return the favor!

Anyways got a quick question,

I also bought a CC BEC along with my MM speedo, and I thought the BEC would help me run higher voltages with less stress on the speedo? Or is that a ubec? lol. Should have read up before I guess.

I heard about ricks over at the mnnitroseries.com forums. Nothing like free track time. I hope to make it out there at least a few times this summer.
