Stampede Rant -
06.16.2008, 10:26 PM
so with my constant desire to further build upon my RC trucks, it came down to me never having a darn RC to drive!
So I went out and bought a VXL Pede to just bash around with. Bought a couple FLM parts so that my 3S LiPo pack would fit, and thats about all I plan to do.
My rant is this... I constantly lose wheel nuts, because traxxas in all their wisdom, decided to make the stub axles with JUST enough thread, I don't understand how hard it would have been to make the threads even 1/8" longer. But you know, whatever, I'll locktite the nuts on I suppose.
My main problem is this, because my wheel nuts were a bit loose, I jumped it and cracked a rim. No biggie right? WRONG... Apparently these 2.8" rims are like gold around here and for the life of me I can't get ahold of any. I just find it a bit ironic that this truck is real popular around, even say for a beginner, yet a rim is stupidly hard to find.
Well thats my rant, I feel a bit better now.

I have the same problem with the wheel nuts. They require checking almost every run. Also all the screw in hinge pins and screws holding the tie rods like to undo themselves too.
Savage: FLM Conversion, 6s, MMM, CC 1520.
Mini-T Pro: Micro Pro 6800kv, Lipo, HS-81mg, Dirt Hawgs
M18MT: Quark 33A, Y22S 6000kv, FP 2s Lipo
LRP S8-BX: RC-M Conversion, Tekin RX8 B1600KV, 6S.

I always locktite wheel nuts. The nylon is useless after a couple wheel removals, and the constant wheel spin likes to throw them off anyway.
I haven't lost a wheel nut in god knows when (other than the ones I've dropped in the dirt...)

I've thought about painting the nuts like bright pink or something.. so at least I might have a chance of finding them in the dirt
Arct1k - Looking for 2 rear rims, but thanks for the offer anyways, I appreciate it.
Its not a big deal at all really, I just needed to vent it out a little, and it helped =)

Mine came a light pink color, but they are firmly attached, so I am not worried about losing them...

I'm suprised that they STILL have this problem. I thought that with the new releases, that they could've updated it. I've heard that some guys had luck by supposedly upgrading to the nitro parts (but I cant verify that they are any different).
Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES
