Hyper 7 conversion help - 06.15.2008, 07:22 PM

I've been doing a lot of looking through all the different threads to try to get a grasp on a good set up. And I have one I'd like to do but would like to get some feed back from all of you to see if I'm going in the right direction.

Car-Hyper 7

Track-140'x84' (front straight is almost all that 140')

Use- Racing (no bashing at all) 20 min qualifing x2, 30 min main

My planned set up- NEU 1515 2D or 1512 2.D/F
MGM Compro 160/18
4s or 5s 5000 mAh

Alot of the other racers are running the OS .21 V-spec's

any help at all would be nice...
Thanks in advance

Hay bugman welcome to the team.. I hope you enjoy your time here, this forum its filled with a bunch of extremely knowledgeable gentlemen, (Not me mind you!) but most of the guys are great..

Moving on to your question, here is what I can take a swing at!.
Car - Hyper 7 (don’t have one) but I have heard great things about them.

Use - Racing (GET GOOD electronics!) Neu / MGM / 25 - 30C lipos..

Motor -To save weight go with the 1512 (try to find a "Y" series). More torque / less draw, will stay a little cooler.

MGM compro (great controller I have one and I love it!) to save some money and weight, but limit yourself to 4s try the 12012. http://www.icare-rc.com/motor_contro...hless.htm#MGM2 (middle of the page) just where the Car and boat controllers start.

4s 30C should keep you very happy, that’s what the team racers use and a lot of guys here. A lot of guys also run the 5s, I use 5s on my 808 and it kickass ass! But it's really to much for the track that's why I just bought (2) Poly quest 4s 30C 4500mAH lipo's, remember you only have some much room inside your cavity before you run out of room and hit the bottom of your body. My total height limit is 45mm so I'm limited to 37mm height on my lipo choices after taking in considerations the height of the battery box and the strap holding down the battery.

I don’t have a clue what .21 v means, I but know that mine is faster then theirs ..

Have a great one...

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..

Thanks for answering, how about the 1512/1Y/F and do they come with motor screws or not?

i went with the 2d, some say its too fast, i will see when i get it. i got a hyper 8.5 pro :) and having some issues, which you wont have... a spur may be a good idea (need gasket thingys)

30 minutes is a long time... i went for a123 cells, which will last the same or longer than a 5000 lipo pack (as i can use almost all of the capacity)

hope this helps,
ryan :)

ill also be racing against v specs, where anouts in the the world are you (im guessing europe or australia, as hypers dont seem too popular over in the states...im from australia)

I went with the 1512/1Y , as for my home it's in Dallas Texas, I've just liked the hyper 7 I'm up against Losi 8's, RC8's, and the X-ray 808's
