Just a followup - really pleased the way I caa watch and store charge data on batts using this v1.5 firmware and EOSView with my 0610i - charged a 3S lipo last night and it was neat watching the cells come into balance on EOSView.
One thing I've noticed - the USB port I used to install the PRGUSB software for connecting with the charger will not work with CastleLink software. I was trying to set up a MM and 2 CC Becs from the same USB and was having trouble - CC was telling me it couldn't find a CastleLink device while connected to either MM esc or a CC Bec.
I tried a different set of USB ports (laptop has a set in back and a set on the side - both are USB 2.0 protocol) and CastleLink worked like a champ. If you make this upgrade, you may want to be aware of this. Seems like the PRGUSB adapter installed for the firmware upgrade "takes over" that USB port or alters it in some way.
Yeah, the other wire (red/white) next to it is the temp sensor. I have an Ice charger too and my experience with its temp sensor was disappointing - the temp it reads lags way behind the batt temp and makes it mostly a curiosity and I won't use it.
The Hyperion temp probe is much better, it has much better contact with the batt surface for starters and follows batt temp pretty good.
Where is "device manager" located on the computer? I have the firmware downloaded and then moved it to my desktop. Is moving it to the desktop considered unziping it? Thanks
Click start, find 'my computer' in the list on the right. Highlight it, then right click it, then click properties in that list. A new dialog opens - in that click the hardware tab. You will find device manager listed first in that list.
No, moving it to the desktop is not unziping it. You need to run winzip (or something like it) to unzip the file. To check, highlight the file you moved and right click it. In the list that comes up click properties. At the top if it shows type of file as WinZip File, you will need to unzip it.
If you have Winzip installed, dbl click the file on your desktop - that will start the unzip process, tell it to extract file to your desktop.
Got it updated and thank you for the help. What is the biggest change to this new update? Now that I did it once it will be a piece of cake in the future. Thanks again!
