My Quark 125's unnecessary demise - 07.07.2008, 02:43 PM

I just killed a perfectly good 125b. I was attempting to do internal cooling mods. I came up with a really cool heat spreader that passed through 2 slots I cut in the case. I was pretty happy with myself until I plugged it in. It made a loud pop, I unplugged it right away but it's too late. Now if I unplug the motor wires, I can plug in the esc and get a red led steady but if I connect the motor wires, it shorts the battery hard. No smoke came out and when I opened it again, there's no visible damage. I tried to be careful doing the mods, I've done the same before without any problems. Does anyone have any thoughts on getting this thing fixed or is it a goner? I sent an 80b to S&T a while back under warranty and they replaced it no problem. This clearly isn't warranty but I've read that it's hard to get them serviced. Any ideas?
