E-revo BL temps with eagle tree -
07.15.2008, 12:59 AM
hey guys, I ran my new BL revo this weekend for one of the canadian RC pro series races and i recorded temps of 180 on the motor and 170 on the tekin r1 pro esc. I used the a Eagletree elogger with 1 sensor taped to the motor and 1 shrink wraped and placed under the solder post on the esc (hottest part) I never thermaled at all. Temps that day i think were high 80's low 90's.
Setup was a 1512 2.5d (2050 kv) on 5s2p A123 (16.5 nominal) geared for 38 MPH (20/56) on proline lrp crime fighters. I had 2 2200 uf caps on the esc with 1 40mm 12 volt fan blowing on it. 50 on current limiting and 2 on motor timing, got 1300 watts/99 amp peak readings.
Does this sound normal to you guys? i kinda expect the temps to be higher since i'm measuring real time and not using a IR temp device after you pull in/take off the body etc.
I eventually geared it the same as my nitro revo in terms of speed (~29 mph with GPS 15/58 i think) which brought the temps down to 130 ish on the motor and 110 on the esc 1000 watts/68 amps peak.
Mind you all these temps are PEAK reading as recorded by the Elogger.
BTW i didn't actually run this e-revo as i was testing it out/trying setups(had a friend run it for the races)
I ran my nitro the whole weekend (i got tq) so i never got to run it against the other nitros and as luck would have had it i had to marshall the heat my friend running the e-revo :( so i never really got a chance to really watched how he drove it.
