another dead MMM - 07.04.2008, 04:55 PM

well with my first MMM the fan died and I didnt have another on hand so I hooked up my second one and after 10 mins of running today it diedit looks to be a failed BEC you can turn the switch on and off and the fan jogs back and forth ever so slightly. Looks like I will need to send the dead one back to CC and while I am at it might as well the other one too......I have a pistix adapter so maybe in the meantime I might go with the HV110 ESC and also thinking about the MGM 9032. When I send the controller back to CC do I need to have the receipt?

you shouldn't need the receipt....the failed bec and failed fan stuff is all warranty work....just fill out the repair service form and mail it in....you probably won't be getting the MMM's back until the end of july early august....

Crap. I thought I was one of the lucky ones, but my Monster died today. It just cut out and won't turn on. Oh well, good thing I have a 2nd one to get my by while I send this one back. I think I've had about 12 packs though it and have gone through 1 stock fan and 2 Novak fans.

The funny thing is that I'm not mad at all. I guess I've been expecting it a little and since I've had the 2nd one on standby I'll still be able to bash tomorrow. I just hope Castle can make it as reliable as my MMs.

Update:

Damn it, now I am mad. My second MMM just died today after half a pack. 3 lights flash, no arming tones, then the red light is very dim. So much for a backup. Lost a blade on the fan, but it still spins. Guess both are going back together.

It's not that I'm mad at CC. It sounds like a component failure that was beyond their control. Plus, it's been great having Patrick on the forum. It's not like my Savage is down for good and it finally got me off my lazy ass to upgrade one of my MMs with 12ga wire and Novak cap.

I am going to miss that extra little power from the MMM though...

Dickyt, don't feel bad I have two buggies a truggy and an inferno gt that have been sitting on a shelf all summer. I would use my mgm 224.18 but I sent it back to mgm for a firmware update 2 months ago with next to no communication from them. This hobby needs more speed controls.
