NEED HELP IN LAYOUT(suggestions pls) - 07.18.2008, 03:13 AM

im currently finishing up on my project, and this is the layout im thinking of

most of the xt8 projects here have their weight biased to the rear and have their esc elevated from the chassis.is it big of a difference if i do it this way?

another concern is the clearance of the spur and battery tray,im currently using a pretty small spur(44T).im running a neu 1515 1y so ill probably need to use a bigger spur.this is the only place i can use the tray without seriously hacking it.

any input would be greatlt appreciated.im putting this on hold until i get enough info from you guys.thanks

if you could lift / install your ESC (Nice MMM) over your rear drive lines you could move your tray back a few more mm but other than that, it's sold.. Where is your RX going (??) above your steering servo (?)..

Here are two examples picture of what I’m talking about..

or you can do this (??)

Other than that it looks GREAT!.. keep us updated on your bad boy!..

I can make you like the first picture group, just pay for the parts (??) or do this..

Easy ESC mod..
Get some Lexen (thick not thin) and cut it the size of your ESC, drill (4) holes, one in each corner and then go to lowes or home depot and but some pipe that has the centers threaded out or use hollow pins and run long srews through the centers and attach at the top. Once the plate is secure use doubeled sided tape servo tape and zip teis…

Bammm it done, looking good and now your able to move your battery try back for a better CG..

Just a thought / suggestion..

Best of luck and have fun with it..

You could just mount the MMM to the center diff plate. Check your local hardware store for a 90 degree countersink bit. (metric uses 90, standard uses 82 degree) That way you can make the screws fit flush and have a nice flat centered esc mount and you'll have more room to shift the weight of the battery. If you're hard on your buggy or like big jumps, you may also want to wrap a zip tie around the MMM. I've had the case pop apart on me a few times.

i tested it at the track today with the first layout and it handled quite well.i have to do more testing coz i stripped the spur.my fault, didnt mesh well and i didnt have a spare.it really handles well, just needs a good driver

tdc,
i think the idea you gave me wont work coz my batts sit very high.id have to set it as high as the center diff,i dont like the way it looks sitting that high.but the current layout gives me a lot of oversteer going right off power
