Motor Dissassembly -
08.06.2008, 11:10 AM
Can someone tell me how to dissassemble two motors?
-Feigao 8xl finned can
-Feigao 9xl smooth can
i bought the 8xl to run in my truck, but then was told that it might run to hot, on a whim i bought a 9xl with a De-magged rotor- i was planning to swap the rotors until the 8xl gave up the ghost. im hoping the magnets just came off the shaft and didnt shatter.
anyways, on the 8xl both ends are jb welded, how would i go about removing the damaged rotor?
How would i remove the rear endbell of the 9xl smooth can?
Will 2 part epoxy be enough to hold magnets onto the shaft(if the are not shattered)?
Do you have to align the poles of the magnets?
-how?
Thanks in advanced guys

to get the back cap off just stick a screwdriver in the opening for the wires and pry it off...the jb weld should break free if you rotate the screwdriver to apply even pressure to the whole back...itl pop off eventually it may just need some encouragement...if all else fails get a blowtorch and heat up the edge of the can where it is glued and that should help

Yeah BB the jb weld is thin on the rear because of this. The threads never would hold so i just jb weld the threads a little. Using channel locks would proly be best so you can grab the whole end and twist like you are threading it off. Granted if you use the same end an case you will have to jb weld it back on to get it to stay

i had to cut the front jb and it popped right off, rotor is shattered...(in the 8xl) the 9xl seems to have a little magnetism still left :D

Wow, your motor looks like it met up with a stump grinder. Remind me to never buy a motor from you!
