That conversion doesn't look too bad, actually. Assuming he has the motor plate and center diff mounted securely then I'd say your GTG. I would swap in your MM for the BK, or pick up a separate LVC. The BK's aren't bad ESCs.

how about a zippy lipo? 25C, $77... lower capacity though, but why carry all that extra weight (its to compensate for the lower C rating...

I was running the 10L motor in my converted buggy and it was plenty fast. You might be suprised. Those buggies dont weigh much especially if you get a lipo. An XL motor might be overkill. The 10L was breaking the metal cvds right off my buggy. The warrior also isnt a bad speed controller. 300 seems like a pretty good price for everything.
I would install the mamba so you can set punch control. You will probably want to tone it down some.

Wow I gave the exact opposite advice as everyone here. You guys must be serious speed junkies. The 10L would lay 10+ feet of rubber on the pavement. It had so much power I had to buy a second buggy for parts cause they kept breaking because of all the power. Once of the hardened steel cvd's broke right in the center. I have never seen anything like that before.

I dont know if it makes any difference, but I had the rd logics sho buggy. Maybe its not as strong but it looks just like the one you got. Yeah thats the emaxx motor plate. I did the same thing. All it took was 2 holes, cut a piece off the bottom and it worked perfect.

the hypers are like tanks - hence why i got one :)

they weigh a lot, but are indestructable... ive not heard of more than a few blowing up the diffs, which are usually the weakest link!

Thanks everyone, I feel better about my decision. The reason I went with the hyper is because I hear they're rock solid, should be a good club racer/nitro killer. The track is kind of tight, so I'm thinking it should be okay for awhile. I just hope I can find parts for it seeing how its years old.

Does anyone know if this is the 9918?

Yeah, the 2 of them in my erevo with a mm and 8xl is a beast. I keep stripping my rims and thermaling, that's a whole other thread. Can't wait for the MMM. One of the batteries got all swolen and Dan at true RC was quick to replace it. Top notch service.

You didnt get a good deal, I don't think you got screwed either. I would grab an rc monster motor mount and battery tray asap than a 9xl motor with rc monster heatsink clamp. I would also grab a mamba monster the second mike gets them in (which should be very soon) also toss that motor and control back on feebay straight away! O yea I forgot get a polyquest 4s 5000mah pack from mike.

Couldnt tell ya what esc it is- he says "18/3"- thats not a model# I'ved heard of, unless he typed it wrong. Im gonna guess thats 18cells and.... 300amps? lol. You'll have to ask him for a better picture of the esc.
