e-maxx tranny is not a direct fit, modding is needed. what exactly is breaking in the tranny

Ok, RCM Mike just shipped my revo hybrid diffs with lightning pro diff and got some ofna buggy diffs coming too. Not sure which to use so I got both. Shock and other chassis parts are being shipped too. The Slayer has been release just need to wait for a couple of days and I should be able to order the arms.
Now, Im on a dilemma of choosing the ESC, I got MMM on order but I you know the story of that. Do you guys think a Phoenix HV-85 or 110 with pistix can power my AXI 4120/18 and current build? this ESC is locally available and easy to purchase compared to MMM so I was thinking it would be a viable alternative.

Only problem with airplane ESCs is they don't have motor brakes. You could use the built-in "prop brake" as a drag brake, but it's just not the same.

Yup, I read that too but SunnyHouTX was able to use it well just need to get use to it. However, know my nature I cant resist WOT so proper brake might be required

The motor required a custom shaft to work properly for this conversion:
The mounting-end of the motor will face the front of the E-Revo, and the other end will be supported by a couple bearings riding in another mounting plate.

Got the drawings done, here is the pretty version:
Top left is the motor mount, top right is the rear motor brace, middle is the upper chassis brace (ties the front shock mount to the rear shock mount), and bottom is the skidplate. Also, the cutout shown on the skidplate won't actually be a cutout, but where a 1/4" deep pocket will be milled out. The skidplate will be 1/2" thick black delrin.

I can't believe I missed this thread.
Nice custom work for the direct drive. You should save some weight without a tranny. You'll want to make sure that the bottom skid plate you use mounts to the bottom 4mm holes in the rear bulks. These brace the rear bulheads and without it, the only thing attaching the bulk from the bottom is the 3mm shock mount scews. I found out the hard way that just using the shock mount scews tends to be a bit much under hard driving conditions.
I converted the RTR slayer a couple weeks ago and found I could not keep the truck from rolling like a tumble weed. Even with the Revo sway bars and camber adjustments, it was still out of control.
I have since mounted the front and rear ends to the E-Revo chassis and am just waiting for the E-Revo transmission to show up.
The stock body fits decent enough. Just trim the wheel wells a bit and ream two new holes for the rear.
I will hopefully have my new E-Slayer ready for the track this comming weekend. The lower center of gravity and longer wheel base should tame this rolling beast
Ha Ha

Any chance you could get a picture of this 4mm screw's location? I suppose it doesn't help that I don't have a rear bulkhead to be able to find it myself.
And a quick note, that skidplate won't be sitting so low when all is said and done...
