CC bec is a switching regulator so its like flipping a swich on and off really fast to bring down voltage, be sure to disable the MM's stock bec

Capacitors do help reduce heat if the built-in capacitors can't keep up.
And the MM has a 5v BEC, so it's burning off even more energy as heat than you think.
Getting a bigger motor won't decrease amp draw... Changing the load will, though. The idea is to have a motor that is sized such that this motor operates more efficiently than motors of other sizes. But since Chinese motors have lower efficiencies to start out with, it is often easiest to switch to a larger motor that has more surface area to dissipate heat. But that has nothing to do with the ESC's heat...
