Kyosho spur for the Losi diff - 08.18.2008, 08:19 PM

Hey guys. I just picked up my next speed project, a Losi 8ight T. I need to know what do I need to mount a Kyosho plastic spur gear on the diff? Any help is appreciated!!

The Kyosho gear will bolt right onto the diff no problem. I did run into an issue with clearance to the RCM mount, the Kyosho gear is more offset and it binds on the mount. I probably could make it work but I had a different conversion mount that works fine.

Mike said his LOSI motor mount was not made to work with the kyosho plastic spur.

I was talking about his LOSI motor mount & the kyosho spur, not the KYOSHO motor mount . This is what he told me when we talked about it a while back.

Mount mods - 08.18.2008, 09:37 PM

It would take some pretty major mods to the RCM mount to make it work. I looked at ways to do it because I wanted to use the RCM mount but in the end, I had to go back to my RCPD mount, it gives lots of clearance. I also ended up ordering an extra wide steel spur from Robinson Racing, it works great with the RCM mount.

No mods to the RCM mount necessary. Here is what you have to do: Find a thin 8mm washer that fits on the front side of the center diff rear bearing and you are set. The main problem that I encountered with the kyosho spur was oil leakage. The slot where the o-ring sits is a little wider, which may to blame.
