Neu 1512 2d f - 08.17.2008, 08:24 AM

I have a shot at a 1512 2df motor for under $200 clams and was wondering if I can get 40mph on 3s lipo with a MM in the new E-revo. Thanks in advance for the help.

3S is a value too low for a vehicle like e-revo. You should use at least 4S

Is the 4s rule more for power or for effeciency? I just ran my e-revo with 7.4 lipo, MM and a 7700 CC motor and I had wheel stands with a 12 tooth pinion and a confirmed 41 mph. This was just a test and the speed control reached 175F and the motor reached 130F and the battery came off at 109F, indicating the truck was over geared. I know the 7700 wont last in the revo but the Neu motor will solve that issue. Is the motor I listed OK for the revo? Based on that test with the 7700, 4s will be just too much power for racing but if you need 4s for effeciency, I will just have to tune every thing down and gear it low. Thanks for the help.

I made up my mind...this is my set up...Neu 1512 2 df, MM, 4s lipo, 14/61 gearing. I ordered mod 1 and 32p pinions 5mm, I hope one will work. CCbec. Should I get an RX cap and what does that do? Should I drill air holes in the esc case and add a fan. I'm scapping the stock servos for one 333 0z in, stock ones suck. Do I need any mods to run the single servo? Sorry about all the questions but us newbies to electric need all the help we can get.

I finally raced my ERevo over the weekend. My setup:

Neu 1512 2d/f
MM with fan and holes
4s 8k ThunderPower ProLite
Gears Mod .08 - 18/65
Speed - about 35mph

For the 10 minute A-main, my motor temp got up to about 135f. Well within the comfort zone of the Neu motor. The MM got up to about 140f. I think this setup could be geared for a little more speed, but I only race and 35mph is perfect. In the torque department, my MT was noticeably superior to the field...It was the only electric in the field...and the winner of the race.

The 1512 in an ERevo is just fine.

4S-5S-6S and motor with low KV (from 2200 to 1700) are for power and efficiency.
7700 Is for 1/10 1/18 vehicles. With more volts you'll run cooler, longer, and with much power.

Thanks for the info...I ran the heck out of the revo yesterday with the 1512 2df and even though I was under geared slightly, I was just amazed. It's on 4s right now and I am getting great temps all around and fantastic run times on 2 5000mah 7.4 lipos. This track had 6 or 7 guys running brushless buggies and truggies and I got even more valuable info. All I need now is a couple 62 and 65 tooth spurs for fine tuning and I can pack up the entire package and send it off to my son in england. Then I can get to building something for my self. Anybody in the market for some really high quality Nitro engines.
