Hey Squee. Thats not just a TM problem. They are having the same problem with the TZ and I have a OS 12CV-X (little red head engine)and it has the same problem here it is discussed at length and they have a solution to the problem. I would suggest you read up on before you get the engine of your choice. I'm not telling you to not get the engine, i'm just suggesting you need to read and get this product when you do.You need to read the first two to four pages to understand what is going on

thanks crazyjr. glad you pointed that out. i wouldnt be able to afford another rebuild. i just rebuild my trx 2.5 that only had a gallon and a half on it. so is that spacer needed, or able to be used if you plan on running a pullstarter

tm - 10.23.2005, 06:40 PM

On the track my rpms stayed up alot more, because of bottem end so the tz is not the best engine for racing i would go with tm. even whene he messed with the spacer it still did no good. now he bought the mach .26 and has no top end but he pleant of bottem end. the tm is all around good engine everybody has tm at the hobbie store i race at.

If he uses the electric or pull start he will be fine. The problem arises fron the gap between the piston and rod, when the rod moves out away from the crankshaft it grinds on the backplate and the channel in the crankcase where the rod travels. If you have a electric or pull start the piece that turns over the enginewill keep the rod in place. However if you convert to bump start you take away the one thing that keeps your rod from destroying the engine

yes, that is true. so i guess i wont need the spacer then? i plan on running a rotostart or a pullstart. starterbox is a little pricey for now.
i dont know why but everybody says that the tz is a MUCH faster engine and that it is the best engine for a revo. not to mention that everybody at my local track runs it. which one to get???? if im not mistaken, the tz makes more horse power and it is said to be "the ultimate smallblock".
