i actually thought they were laid out quite well... Just have to read it once before you do anything and it sinks in the second time when you go through it all with the controller (i found anyway - as i was quite confused at first - i just had to read through the whole thing once to get the jist of it all, then it just made sense the second time when i was setting it all up)

I run an older plane version of the 16024 in my LST and it's worked very well for me for quite a while now... Have an 8012 somewhere too and plan to get a 16025 z series for my savage soon =)

It's wierd that they even bothered making the z and e-series... they're all the same except one can't use the black box... the difference is only a few euros (15 at the most), so i'm confused as to why they bothered with the e-series...

The mgm manual is a breaze, I had my mgm calibrated and fully programed via the transmitter in less than 5 minutes if even that long. Mike also agree's with me...both him and I have the usb module and connection cables for the pc but never use em cause its just as fast or faster to use the transmitter! Anyway I want that big z series esc for a 50'' bonzi conversion I want plus I want one for my baja project.

I plan on using one of these in my converted revo3.3, with a medusa 60mm 1600kv, 6s lipo, 2-speed and geared for 40mph (18/40).

Would this one do:TMM 12025? It's rated for 120amp max continuous current and 150 peak current, and the medusa is rated for 93amp peak current.

Yes I think that would work, I would have to assume so...I would shoot for the 160.24 mike says that one is tuff as nails.

but why go for the 160.24 if the 120.25 will do the job aswell? these controllers don't come cheap, and if there isn't a reason to go for the 160 instead of the 120, why would I???

Myself, I would prefer to go overkill than to have to buy the bigger one later. The extra $50 - $75 is a lot less than buying both controllers if you smoke the smaller one. Keep in mind that the motors could possibly pull more amps than the rated max if your set up is not ideal for the motor

thanks for the answers. so you recon 150max amps of the controller vs 93 amps of the motor isn't enough margin?

may be the price difference woulfd be less if I could run the 160 without a fan?

Not sure if it says on the website, but do these controllers have a built in lvc? Specially the 28025, it says it has:

When batt. low (almost empty) - motor power reduction
When batt. low (almost empty) - instant motor cut-off

But wasn't sure if this was programmable? So do you need to get an lvc with this controller?

It is possible to adjust the lvc in the E & Z series ( new generations ).
Go to web page, softaware + instruction manuals.
The pdf shows all parameters adjustables:

pages 8 + 9 shows all.
I own old & new versions. Regarding the new one, the parameters
are perfect to adjust to your driving style & personnal use.
The programming can be done by transmitter+ programming card or
computer if you buy the connections needed.

Definitely the best ESC now available.

IMO you don't want to run a 2 speed tranny in a BL Revo

I choose MGM because they are strong and available for a while
with no issues at all since my 1st run.
If you compare to some theorically welknown esc, they give so much
troubles and are already thinking of producing the V3 with the 2 old
versions having HEAVY issues: burning, no operation, BEC out of order
and much more. Customers are making the tests, but still without
reliable solution. Not appreciated by myself.
I never get a BEC problem, and i can tell you that both my MGM esc
have been tested VERY HARD.
Anyway, it is your choice if you have time to wait. Meanwhile, i run
alot with mine in total trust.

Why wouldn't I want to run a 2 speed in a bl revo?
I know everyone runs single speed or lock the tranny in second, and I know brushless motors have enough torque to run on a single speed. But I'd like to try out the extra efficiency from a 2 speed.

i think it would be more reliable, and it would change to 2nd vitrually instantly i thouk you will find.
