It’s always better to simply reduce the heat generated in a system by better engineering than to try and cool things with fans and other gimmicks. Sure a fan can get you a few degrees, but you had better have a superior design to start with.

Something nice is the pinions:

All my RCM and RRP hardened steel pinions got a coating of rust on em pretty quickly, still work fine, but I bet a titanium coated pinion would should look purdy

True...but how many monsters so far have thermalled when running without a fan? The Monster already is a good design to start with, but packing that much power handling into an ESC is always going to result in heat...and a fan can't hurt (as long as it doesn't fail!).

I'm really looking forward to their motors; they should be awesome for the price.

2200 KV – Intended for 6S (25.2 Volt) operation. Incredible in monster trucks with up to 6S lipo packs. The 2200 is 75mm long. This is the bad boy!

Maybe it's just me but 6S seems a bit much for a 2200kv? Heck, I've run 1200Kv on 5S A123 (which is probably more like 4S LiPo) and it ran perfectly fine. I'd just rather gear it up.

Not really, 6s lipo on 2200kv is well within its rated maximum rpm, and I think the idea is that at their recommended voltage, gearing and general setup (I think it is safe to say this is offered as an upgrade to the e monsters, which at the moment are the emaxx and erevo), which the average user will be following, the average current draw should be close to peak efficiency of the motor.

Running lower voltage and gearing up you would draw way more current and the motor would be significantly less efficient = more heat.

2200kv on 6s 55,000 rpm's in a heavy monster truck? Mike tells me for cool running and reliability I should be around 30-35k.

I am seriously considering sticking the 1515 1y in my buggy just for reliability and low temps. Also the eight race roller comes with a similar length 2100kv so they should be fairly similar power wise.

Monster’s applications typically pull 4,000-5,000 watts (5 to 6 horsepower) under acceleration.

Thats my favorite part :) let's see 200 amp at 25 v = 5000 watt.

Yeah theres a quote from patrick somewhere (I've had to dig it up a million times for other things in it) that say their test e-maxx was pulling up to 800A for a split second with no probs.
