MMM wire length queston - 09.08.2008, 11:21 PM

well, we all want our setup to be clean but I was wondering if short wires to the motor would affect performance of the ESC.

Looking at the pictures of the Monster Combo, I noticed Castle keeps the motor wires longer than most setups.

Could long battery wires and short motor wires hinder the performance of the ESC?

Could using longer wires to the motor and shorter wires from the battery make things run better?

My thinking here is that creating more resistance on the motor side and less resistance from the battery side would be less taxing on the ESC by limiting the amount of draw and expanding the amount of supply caused by wire resistance.

I know 10G wire should have little resistance anyway, but maybe these higher power systems create more of a power wave?

On my last set-up I made the wires all around as short as possible, but I was thinking of leaving the motor side long this time.
let me know your thoughts.
thanks.

Generally speaking, the shorter the battery and motor wires, the better- on any electrical setup. I think Castle just provided motor wires a certain length so that it would be fine for most setups- no need for extensions on large vehicles that might have the esc farther away from the motor.

Just take a look at this:
