Oops, just read where you have the bike already. Yeah.. then I would definitely go with the larger motor from RobotMarketPlace.

I'm gonna give the one I linked a shot and see what comes of it. I'm only aiming for 15-20mph or so.

my friend has a razor mini chopper and in 2 weeks we are modding it - 2x 4s 4800 lipo (in parallel) a mamba monster a servo tester for throttle (if that works!) and a motor which should work... a qusetion though - generally - is there any way that th monster max wont work - like is there a difference between the MMM and a scooter esc (apart from the controlling thing) like will we damage it in any way? the lipos should be fine, plenty of power, more than the lead acids currently in there....

shoud be fun - for the cost of a motor....

Hey man, if you can swing it financially, use this motor:

http://www.robotmarketplace.com/prod...G-S28-150.html

It puts out 3HP at 24V but weighs less than 4 lbs. The price reflects the CNC aluminum can and the use of Neodymium magnets. My BattleBots team used them for a spinner-type robot back in high school. These motors rock! The downside- your batteries will need to supply 100A to realise the 3HP rating. I suppose you could mount a 3F car audio capacitor in there to help with acceleration....

How I'd love that motor.
It spends at 6k rpm though, so I'd need this too.

And that I most definitely can't afford!

3HP @ 6K is too fast???!!??

You could go the cheap route and use a couple 750 sized boat motors. A significant gear reduction would be necessary, but I'm pretty sure planetary gear boxes are available.

Have you seen these? ScooterSupport.com They have 36/48V 1000W models; 4" diameter, 6" long, 11 lbs. , ~$160.

That would be nice. I'm tryin to go really easy on the wallet though. Over the last 2 months ive spent about $2000 on rc's and when you're 15 that's a bit too much. :)
