Still a bit confused if I need a BEC - 09.13.2008, 09:04 AM

I am working on a Maxx with twin power systems, 2 motors, 2 escs, 2 lipos. The escs will be connected to the reciever with a Y harness and the lipos will be connected with a paralell harness to the escs.

My question is pretty basic, do I need a BEC? I still don't fully understand what the do. Thanks for any help!

you have to power your radio reciever and servo(s), you do that either directly from the speed control (the red wire in the three wire plug from the speed control to the reciever) or with a battery eliminator circuit.(BEC) Now, you can only power the reciever once, so if you plug in both speed controls you must cut or pull one of the red wires so only one speed control sends the reciever power, or pull both red wires if using a BEC. Do YOU need a BEC? Only if you speed control doesn't have one, or you are using a mamba max above 3s, a MMM doesn't need a BEC, what speed controls will you be using?

I have 2 VXLs in the Maxx I'm building. What option is the best, BEC or no BEC? Thanks again for the help!

no bec, just be sure to cut the red wire from one of the three wire plugs from your speed control to the y adapter. if you cut it on the y connector there's no damage to the speed control, just don't feed it power from both(the red wire) or things will fry
