Good 3s lipo? - 09.27.2008, 07:09 PM

Whats a good 3s Li-po and charger for a stock rustler vxl. If possible, make teh charger ac/dc and off A-Main Hobbies. I'd like to keep shipping down. Im more for performance than price, but i do want to have 2 3s's. Thanks in advance Any other upgrades i should do to the Rustler?

Charger: Hyperion EOS 0403i Any good?

Here is a very good 3s batt....http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...d/25014....The only thing that bothers me a lilttle is the 16c rating on the batt...You generally want a batt. to have at least a 20C rating....However, the cells in this particular battery are Enerland cells which are the best cells for holding their voltage under load.
Any PolyQuest or Enerland cell batts. are excellent choices.
Hope this helps.

As far as a charger goes...I have a EOS 12 Hyperion charger and really like it. Many forum members have Hyperion chargers and like them. My suggestion is by a bigger charger than you think you need, because you WILL need it sooner than later.

2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

that charger will only charge @ 3 amps, and I am assumming you will be using a 5000 pack in a Rustler ....it would be a long charge with that charger. I would get at least the 0606i which is a 6 amp charger and I always look ahead when buying a charger, always buy more charger than you think you need. and as far as a pack I would go with a Zippy "R" or True RC...I have a 4s 5000 True RC pack that was a little to wide for a Rustler batter tray I tried dremeling out the tray and after going through a number of bits I finally drilled a few holes in the bottom of the tray and layed the battery on its side and secured with zip ties

thats the correct charger remember it only has an ouput of 50 watts...but the builtin balancer will only work with Hyperion taps, you will need a Hyperion-Flightpower adapter

the 250 watt model is the 0610i which I have and if you can spare the extra $60 is the one I would go with

A little nicer battery, IMO, than the 3S 5400 16C is the 3S 4900 25C:
