Finedesign RC - 10.06.2008, 06:12 PM

Just found it interesting that Chris is posting up an RCM conversions on his site as a clients ride - RCM Motor Mount and battery tray...

No Finedesign bashing - this was just interesting...

That is blatant fraud.

Wow, if that is truly Mike's products and not some copy job, that guy has some serious cajones! I wouldn't be happy if I were Mike, unless he is working with Mike on some stuff...

No, thinking more like a partnership of each other's parts. I wouldn't think so, but hate to jump to negative conslusions right away. It's the diplomat in me.

He says the vehicle belongs to a client. He doesn't claim to have made any of the parts for the conversion, nor does he say what parts they are, or WHO manufactured them- just that it's a client's new vehicle. It would be sweet if they turned out to be Mike's parts. My guess is they are, since he doesn't specify. They certainly look the "part".

I doubt it. He would have branded them if that were the case. Notice he doesn't show the motor mount from a front-on angle....

Just doesn't make much sense to post hardware made by another company. Sure, he isn't saying he made the parts, but the inclusion sure implies it IMO...

I honestly thank that this is Mike's tray and Mike's mount - It also is an MGM which mike sells FD does not - I know that this is a clients ride but that does really imply it came from FD. I sent a link to Mike - He knows Chris so I'm sure it will get fixed / approved... Too small a world to make hate...

I took at as look how far RCM goes - Even gets posted on the competitions sites ;)

That's what I thought as well. When you show a potential customer something your client has, the implication is typically that it is something you offer.

Mike's reputation surely precedes him.

I also noticed the juggernaut. That looks an awful lot like one I saw that some one hand built themselves. I remember reading something about it from the guy that made it and there was no mention of FD.

That is laughable for sure. Wes Laflin(Chris even spelled his last name incorrectly) owns those vehicles and is a member here(coolrunnings). The Inferno Gt was built with my parts for sure(as well as the RC8). Standard Kyosho motor mount with a custom top plate that allows it to use a center diff(as in the picture) or the 2 speed. The servo tray HAD an extra servo location (for the brake servo) that Wes cut off. RCM battery box, PQ pack and MGM came from me as well - pretty sure Chris hasn't got a single thing on that particular vehicle, but I know Wes has dealt with Chris over the years as well as RC-Monster. RC-Monster is engraved on the top plate and motor mount, but you can't make it out in the pictures. Maybe Wes got he Juggernaut tube frame from Chris or something?
I don't own the pictures - Wes does. It doesn't bother me that they are posted there - I know they are my parts and if someone asks Chris, it will quickly become obvious that he hasn't got a clue about them. :)
