I mod that was done was the BrianG mod.

Removed a few components related to the BEC & used a UBEC to power the MMM. Also removed the fan power supply & use the UBEC to power the fan.

Joe Ling

I have 2 working V2's still. The one with the most hours on it (several weekend worth) is one that the fan connector broke off of the first day. I cut the "grill" section out above the fan so the blades could not catch on it & wired the fan to the RX. This V2 has performed flawlessly since I did the mods after the first day. My set-up is 5S, Neu 1512 3d/f,RC8 18/46 gear. The other one only has a couple of hours on it. It still is using the stock fan & connector but I cut the grill out of it. I also carved some clearance in the case around the connector & but I'm thinking of busting the connector off the board on purpose. On both V2's I have put shrink tubing on the big plug sockets to keep them from shorting on the heat sink. I did have 2 earlier V2's fail but they were not modified (failed on the same set-up).

How's Perth, my favourite city in Australia ? Weather getting better ? Got to try out the tracks there sometime in the future.

Thanks for the invite. It would b good to bring my rc there. I go back there about once a year & do intend to move back eventually. My brother has settled there while my sister has moved on to Sydney.

It's good to hear that the V2 are starting to become more stable like what u have. Personally, I think the MMM is a solid controller let down by some auxiliary bits. However, those bits are user repairable.

On with the torture...I mean testing

Disaster ! - 10.13.2008, 07:21 AM

I had my modded V2 die on me on Saturday. I was running as usual & it just stopped after the double jump. There was no LED & tone. No response when connected to the link either. Sad day

On the other hand, V1 in the buggy still going strong. Depleted another pack on Saturday.

How much for an out of warranty repair ?

Regards,
Joe Ling

PS : took revenge by running running all nitro on Sunday

Hi TruckBasher,

I'm really bad at sending stuff in for fixing but I think I may be building up steam to have some stuff sent soon (target 1 month he he). I have a sidewinder that cannot see the PC & now a dead V2. I also have a dead Tekno neu that Impakt said to have it sent in but I was just too lazy...

Anyway, went to the track again yesterday to run the V1 for probably half a pack & all was well save for the 3racing fan that I had just installed. I think it last only for 1 run. I noticed that it was not working prior to the session but ran the buggy anyway. Forgot to take temps. though.

Regards,
Joe Ling

Joe, Same here, I have the 2 MMM boxed, labeled and waiting to be sent of to post office.

You have one strong V1. I think there is only a few guys now running on them but there are still V1 out there.

Ok, this is likely to be my last update. The V1 has finally also given up the ghost. In both cases, I think the vibration killed the escs. For the second time, I forgot to replace the zip tie holding the esc down. As a result, it became dislodged from the case & probably sustained some damage while the buggy jumped & jumped & tumbled & did all the rough stuff.

I will be sending in the damaged esc soon (I hope). In the meantime, how does one get a V3 ? I have only 2 more left & I have 3 vehicles...

Regards,
Joe Ling
