Traxxas Summit New Truck - 10.16.2008, 10:35 AM

http://www.traxxas.com/products/promo/5610_promo.htm

Looks interesting enough.

I like the remote locking differentials and changeable 75:1 and 25:1 final drive ratios.

The 775 motor looks interesting but I think BL would be better for sure. I also dig the body and LED's.

Not impressed. It's an E-Revo with some lipstick on it to make you think it's capable of crawling.

I kinda like it. Wonder if the tranny and remote locking diffs can hang with a 1515 Neu?

Although this truck has very cool features, I wish Traxxas would build a whole new truck around these features (locking diffs, lights, exo cage, transmission, etc.). They are starting to turn into Losi with just redesigning an already built truck... Still have to say though that the features Traxxas thought of are VERY cool.

Agree - Locking diffs are a nice touch but a revo is not really a crawler platform - I'm amazed that this is their crawler solution - I though more like losi or duratrax.

Although its a cool truck, I totally agree with you. I will they would come out with a totally different vehicle instead or always "re-designing".

I don't get the whole redesigning bashing. Every stinking RC company out there does this. How many versions of the savage has their been, not to mention touring cars, and others. It's not just losi and TRX, it's everyone.

I look at it as more cool parts for my Revo...

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

That is cool, I may have to get one. I would like to see two of the 775 motors though.

I really like the idea of the Summit. When I was first running an E-maxx 5 years ago, I was dreaming it had the remote locking diffs and waterproofnessicitytionability.

I understand why a company comes out with a "better" version of the same truck over the years, but what I get tired of is a company using the same parts/platform for vehicle after vehicle. (the Summit is basically a rock crawler converted E-Revo, the Slayer is basically a "stubby" Revo, the Slash is basically a Rustler with a different chassis/body). Now, don't get me started on Losi.

Don't get me wrong, I love all of Traxxas' vehicles, I just wish they put more creativity into them. ;)

From a customer standpoint, I don't mind "borrowing" individual components that work well from different vehicles, but don't slap a new body on something, change one or two items, and call it different. It feels like companies are trying to be deceptive and are just out to make a quick and dirty dollar. It would be nice to see something different once in a while, just to mix things up.

On the other hand, from a company standpoint; if something works well, why not keep using it? No need to re-invent the wheel after all. Not to mention R&D and manufacturing costs are lower since many parts are recycled.

So, I can see both points.
