I have to claim cheapness as my main reason. I already have the pede tranny, so it is $0 vs $40 for the axial. I also have the skidplate too, so it is $0 vs $20 for that. And I have the materials and template to make the side plates and servo mounts so it is $0 vs $100 for the kit (which would include the skid, but you get the point). I also have all of the electronics, so it has cost about $150 to get the axles and the other various parts I did not have. So it was pretty cheap to do this build...
