It does change very early for a reason. The reason I went with the 2 speed was to reduce some of the currant draw (less heat) being produced when accelerating from low speeds and to hopefully slightly increase runtime.

Not sure what you mean by "180's ? But I intentionally limited the top speed achievable by the car, hence the top speed wouldn't exceed that of a gas powered 1/8th onroad. This way they can't complain that it is too fast to race against them at my club

I would at some stage like to reverse the pinion and spur eg. 20T spur and 48T pinion. That works out to a theoretical top speed of 643.06 km/h (400.33 mph) or drag adjusted 221 km/h 138 mph - 66% loss (Thanks to BrianG's calculator) That would be a handful!!!

Countryhick,
i love that you have stuck with this project for so long. i have 3 that i am working on now that will most likely take a few months to get them all done. one of them is a 1/8 scale on road with a 3speed tranny(strictly going to be a top speed runner). anyway, the car looks great. cant wait to see more vid of it. you MUST check out this post. it was the first post i ever saw here at RC MOnster and it's why i joined. when i saw how clean this conversion was i knew the guys here must know what they are doing. it is a brushless Serpent posted by Serum. tons of pics and an absolutely beautiful build. maybe give you some ideas for your carbon fiber work if you havent completed already.

Serum is the man around these boards!!! Funny you say that thread was the reason you joined the Monster forum as it is the same reason I signed on . I haven't seen him around much lately but I'm sure in his lab somewhere, he is building something new to blow our minds

Is your onroad setup a Shumacher??

I will take some new pics in the next few days now that the MMM is in and the MGM is out! It looks a little neater than the last pics I posted.

If you have some build threads for your projects, "link me up"!!

how did you know my on road was a Schumacher? it is! its the Menace GTRe 1/8 buggy-chassis-turned-onroad with a 3speed tranny. it is not as nice as a Serpent by far but it should be a fun car. i ordered a Neu motor for it but the wait was 6 weeks so i am holding off on that and i just went and got a Castle motor today. we'll see how it does. i am hoping to get it running today. i am waiting on some carbon fiber but i am just going to use wood or alum for temp purposes today just to see how it runs. i will post some pics when i get it setup.
another fun project right now is a custom Assoc. RC8T. hoping it turns out. going all out on this one.
here is the thread of my Losi 8T i recently did. i love this truggy. it does over 60mph(i think that is around 120kmh) and is a blast to drive!

I guessed it was a Shuie because they are the only car I know of having a 3 speed transmission.

Here are some new pics with my MMM mounted.
