question about demagnification - 11.13.2008, 11:58 AM

If a Neu motor has become demagnetized....would it still run or just be dead or would it be intermittent?

If it was somewhat demagnetized, the motor will get abnormally hot and you'd most likely notice a loss if performance.

If it was totally demagged, it would hardly move if at all, and you could blow the ESC as it sends huge amount of current to coils with no back-EMF

thanks Brian......I tried to take a shortcut after Castle telling me to send my 1515/1.5d back to Neu to check for demagg after they looked at my v3

we took the chance and ran it in my erevo and it seem to run fine every few laps he checked the temps and temps never got above 130 after about 9 0r 10 laps the esc went into flames

guess i should send it in to Neu

Demagnetization? I guess that's a word, 'cuz Chrome's built-in spell checker didn't underline it.

When I demagged a motor, first thing I noticed was fading brakes, then all the wires and motor started heating up fast.

When I demagged one of my motors my esc would cutoff like it was hitting the lipo cutoff. It never got hot b/c the esc wouldnt let it run long enough(about 1/2 a second)

I know my feigao 9L is partially demagnetized. It gets scorching hot after about 2 minutes, the MMM fan turns on, and it has a higher top speed than it used to with the same gearing.
