Talking My 09 build! What do you think??? - 12.09.2008, 05:56 AM

What would you build in 09 if you were me??

Or better yet what do you think I can’t build in 09?? I love proving people wrong..

Here are four ideas I’ve got / been thinking about doing in 09:

1. I was going to build a turbine powered 1/5 scale with a few extras but that’s been done!,

I'm now thinking about a 4 motor ducted fan hover car with the motors mounted on these pan and tilt servos

http://servocity.com/html/spt200_pan___tilt_system.html

(Curtsey of Arct1k) Thanks again Sir..

2. I was also thinking about cross breading a plane with a car but I'm afraid the weight to wing ratio will not be feasible, I need to investigate this further to know for sure..

3. Then there is the possibility of using 1/5 scale heli foldable blades (hidden of course) but then there’s that dam weight to power ratio thing that I think will kill me. But still how cool would that be for it to expose heli blades and then lift up off the ground firing a paintball gun at someone’s build chasing it about 3-4’ in the air..

4. I was also thinking about taking two zeppelin symbols ( or something) and installing magnets along both sides of the rim on the upper and lower end facing each other and then installing motors within the metal tops & bottom to make it spin, thus using the magnets to fight off each other at high velocity crating lift from the spinning and fans ducts cut into the outer shell, blaa, blaa, blass, thus creating the first official UFO!... HaHahahahha.. How cool would that BE??!!! I’ve even got the steering all worked out already!, it will be controlled by a weight system between the top and bottom, it will tilt in the direction it needs to go controlled by a BL motor. Mad scientists laugh here..

That’s that kind of stuff I'm going for in 09 (OUT OF THE BOX IDEAS!) what has never been done before BUT CAN BE with out the box thinking???? Or IE strictly project “X” material..

So for now, PLEASE don’t really worry about logistics at this point, I’ll take care of that, I just need you to pitch me your wild and crazy ideas and who knows your idea might be my 09 build and or the winner of the RCM 09 custom build award goes to ???? HHHAAA,HHahahhahaha….

Thanks again for all of your time and I'm looking forward to hearing all of your out of the box ideas.

Shaun.

Nothing!.. Hahahahaaa..

Are You Kidding. - 12.09.2008, 09:02 AM

Are you kidding us Shaun?? You are the one who comes up with the off the wall ideas here. Your first couple of builds were pretty cool even if the majority of the project was company manufactured, and you did not take any shortcuts doing them either. That is what made them so interesting to read through, plus your step by step tutorials were great for info. I liked the way you made sure to have all of your materials in hand before you started the build.

We all know you are capable of doing just about anything, and crazy enough to go all the way with your projects no matter what obstacles get in your way. How about a car with hidden fold out wings with the flip of a switch, that flies. Or a robot that can crush the types of vehicles that you have been building here, and can chase them down as well. The hover craft would be cool, but that to has already been done. Blimps are boring, and boats are nothing unusual to build. Heli's are also cool, but that is a whole other game all together. Why not put your brain to the test and build a high speed project and go for serious speeds??

And of course it has to be done with a AMC Matador. That thing is too funny. Just think how long ago that was done???

Man thats the parking lot to the beach I spent most sunny high school days at. Grew up on that hill in the background. Sniffle, its snowing here in Chicago, supposed to get 5 inches. Why God... Shaun any car/truck with heli blades, especailly retractable would be the coolest build ever. Time to buy a home cnc machine for you !!

I think you should build a 8x8 MMT with 4 wheels in front and 4 in back. Use a huge outrunner and put a high powered rifle and saws on it!

Well from my research the only Heli blades that are retractable are the big 1/5 scale monster. I need to do some more research on their power plants and operating requirements. It would be cool to see the back of the 1/5 scale truck bed open up exposing some blades and then taking off from there.. And Yes I do need to get a cnc machine!.. may Santa will get it for me and surprise the whole family! LOL.LOL..

UfO (??) - 12.09.2008, 09:58 PM

Actually I'm thinking about making the worlds first flying saucer / UFO. (Here me out before you call for the men in white coats)..

I’ll start out with a cross (probably carbine fiber) maybe 2 feet in across, then I’ll add 4 articulating servos one on each end of the cross, then I mount 4 BL motors on the servos, this action should provide with lift and direction. Then I can mount cut something circular in half mount each side to the center of the cross and have them both slightly elevated on each side of the cross in the middle with the tops of the spheres resting on / in bearings (so it spins) and since the entire body of the sphere rotates, this should provides all the gyroscopic stability necessary for hovering flight, one would think / hope!..

I can them mount a small BL motor horizontally to make the two spears turn, add on some light and a smoke system and Vala! I’ve got the first flying saucer.

Of course I’ve got Many, many issues to resolve but that’s what RD is for..

It will be something like this but not like this.. Much cooler!.. But this at least shows me that with a little ingenuity this thought / project can be done http://www.vectronblackhawk.com/mainpage.htm

So what do you think??

Yes, NO, you can do better!.. LOL.LOL

Thanks for your time team and have a great one
