rear wheel guards and carbon fiber shock tower ???

Just curious what the purpose is of having the rear wheel guards i see on some of the truggies and buggies

also...what are the pro's and con's on using the carbon fiber front and rear shock towers??,like this...

i'd like to cut some weight on my crt x2....but are they strong enough also ?....thanks for the advise

pro's of carbon fiber are that its lighter than aluminum,cheeper than aluminum the cons are that they can be broken easyer

the rear mud guards protect the cvd's from mud and rocks

I don't know about CF being cheaper than aluminum. Low quality CF maybe, but the good stuff typically costs a lot more. For the same thickness CF will be more rigid than aluminum, but under enough stress will fracture. Under the same loading aluminum would bend.

i can get 3 carbon fiber shock towers for what 1 Fioroni shock tower cost

Rear wheel guards are very easy to make using lexan (use left over from one of the bodies you have cut out).

i would suggest making your own mud guards, i made these for my rc8t in about 20 mintues (that includes drilling 2 tiny holes in each arm) you can find good thick clear plastic from just about any kinda packages. then just throw a sticker on there and youve got some cool mudguards. they really help alot for keep the rear axles clean....
