Backwards MMM power connection - 12.18.2008, 02:03 AM

I see there are few peeps viewing this forum. Has anyone connected there battery leads backwards to the MMM esc. ? I did , heard a snap, good spark and it is dead. Dumb move but wondering if there is a simple fix or does if have to go back to CC. Never even ran it outside.

How did you manage to do that? I would open it up and see if it was just a cap that popped. If so, just replace the cap and go.

The answer is no. And yes, mine is faster.

There are other polarized components in there. Just send it back because even if it is just the caps, any soldering will void the warranty...

I did that with my v2 MMM, but it kept working after that. well for about an hour atleast. mine had the biggest spark, scared the living piss out of me, and it melted the bar in my deans connector.

I would suggest some red shrink tubing on the + bullet, and some black on the - bullet (that are attached to the esc's PCB). Or do like castle suggests and solder a deans or TRX plug to the leads that have bullets on that plug into the esc- you cant plug those connectors in backwards no matter how careless you become.

Or..

There is a valid reason for the phrase "make something idiot-proof and they'll just make a better idiot".

in my case I seriously dont know what happened. I made a series adaptor from spare wire and deans. a pretty intricate soldering job(lots of +/-) which came out perfect but then I guess I got excited and plugged the + bullet into the - slot. big mistake!
