CF vs Al - 03.02.2005, 10:02 AM

I am new to this forum. I have had my emaxx for several months now and I am looking to get new chassis. What are the differences between carbon fiber and aluminum? I am more of a basher, however, may do some racing in the future.

Thanks for your guidance!

Welcome to the forums.

The CF is lighter and Aluminum is stronger.

I chose to go with aluminum myselft for the strength. I am a basher.

I thought the CF was stronger? Aluminium will bent, when CF will give no flex. CF will snap on a great impact and aluminium will bent. In either way the material is damaged. Aluminium can be bent back, but it will be less rigid then before the bending operation.

Anyhow, i think that the spareparts will be available from G-maxx

The CF still has got the aluminium frame where it gets his strength from.

I personally like the looks of the CF (imo), especially when combined with a nice mixture of aluminum parts.

Cant go wrong either way - Unless you got one of the Blue Gmaxx carbon fiber chassis - then you gotta go Blue or go Home...

The CF is stiffer, not necesarily stronger. Strength comparison would depend on the test (shear strength vs. compression etc.). Either one is very strong. I have been running both (different trucks) for quite some time and have never had a failure (taken a few hits along the way as well!).
