true rc or spc 8000s - 01.01.2009, 10:49 PM

I am looking at getting another set of 8000s. I was wondering which ones are better. The true rc 8000 10c or the spc 8000 12c

The true rc ones are $85 where as the spc's are $75

I have a set of the true rc 8k 10c one already and they are a tight fit in the battery bay of my e-revo. I cut a block of wood(to the same size as the 8k 15c) to see if there 8k 15c would fit ok. Well it to tight for my liking. So I am now looking at mabeanother set of the 10c or if I would be better getting the 12c so I would have more head room. I have had one of my 8k 10c batteroies swell on me(well not me but a friend was useing them and it swelled somehow on him) The swelling has gone back down and I have not had issues since. If the spc one are just as nice or mabey a touch better I am ready to go!!

Any help/experience would be great! THANKS!

I know smc makes top of the line nimh batteries. I wouldn't expect anything less from their lipos. I'm sure the ratings will be right on the dot. The 12c is pretty low, but the 8000mah will probably make up for it.

Although, I have no personal experience with either, so I wouldn't know first hand.

I also hear that smc make top notch lipos too. I just want the best battery out of the two. I just want to make sure if I get the spc 8k it wont perform worse than the true rc 10c ones.

I also found out that my poly rc 6k 25c batteries were made in china not korea. They were the worst performing battery I have at the moment. I have 2 sets of 6k 25c enerlands and the true rc 10ks perform just a hair betterw( better top speed and the trcs have a hair bit more punch than the enerlands) The only difference is that the 6ks dont get as hot during ther run!

In my old lst conversion the trcs will get to hot to use in about 5 mins where you can run out the whole enerland battery without issues. In my e-revo you can beat the crap out of both

So the enerland will take more ampdraw but at a price of voltagedrop and lack of acceleration

I hit 37.4mph with the enerlands 6k
I hit 38.8mph with the true rc 8ks (best acceleration)
I hit 35mph with the poly-rc 6k (this pack finally swelled yesterday at the 48th charge(pack temp was 115*f)) all its charges were with a fma 10s balancing charger at 1 c rate???????
I tried to get a warrenty claim with the lipos when I first got them but Chris at finedesigns told me I was full of crap and no way a 10c lipo is out performing it. Even the internal resistance of the cells were higher than all the other batteries. I have a flight power 3200 30c that out performes the poly rc ones too.(they are for my plane)

Sorry for the rant!

Did you notice that these batteries say that they recomend that they are only charged at 1 Amp rate. thats 8 hours to charge them. Not really good IMO.

Persoanlly the TrueRC battereies have always been high quality and performed as advertized or better. plus Dan is a stand up guy who stands behind his products. Id say go with waht you know will be good. Cheap is usually just that.... cheap.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Hi Timaneli,

These packs caught my eye too. I have used true rc's packs before with pretty good results.

There is mixed feelings when it comes to feedback on the packs in the link you posted. I've read where several people stated they don't live up to their C rating. A couple said they were more like 5C cells.

I'm still objective about it, because alot of people have no clue about how many amps they are drawing anyway.

Please let me know how they perform for you. I might get some too.

Thanks,
James

even if they are not a true c rating, they would still be great in 1/10 trucks. Its the mts and 1/8th that are very amp hungry

Yes, very true. if you plan on using these batteries in anything big, plan on running tons of mah or high voltage. Instead of going 4s go 6s, instead of 6000mah go 12000mah etc.

In 1/10th trucks these packs would rock. You could easily afford to have 3 or 4 for racing or just to bash around all day. The one thing I'm thinking about is the charge rate. I'll email the website and ask if they meant to say 1c not 2c. 1a is sloooooww.

Just emailed them -
Hey rk2trade.com,
I am considering buying a few of your lipo batteries and I have a couple questions. I want to know if the batteries can really only be charges at one amp, or 1c. One amp would take forever. I also would like to know if you stand behind your product and can back up the c ratings and true capacity of your batteries.
Thanks and have a good day, Riley

I'll tell you when they reply. Hope all this is true and not just some big lie.

whoops haha I spelled charged wrong.

if they discharge at 10c it always will be 80amps of drawing current that is something real good for the price!!
maybe next week i have the 8amps one here to try them!!
the other ones i have i charged them in less on a hour always at 3amps and even after 20 cicles i have nothing to complain!!

I have since heard that smc is going to bring out a 8600mah(2s3p) 25c lipo that fits the e-revo for $125. I WILL be getting a set of those when they are avalible. But in the meantime I might get some of the cheaper packs to play with
