Guess what my dad won!! - 01.24.2009, 12:01 AM

Ok! So my dad went to a christmas party tonight at his work (currier at hospital) and at the beginning the main guy was at the front of the room giving a speech and then all of a sudden he called my dad's name. He went up and then they annouced he was picked to be the recipient of the gift of sight. He is one of the four people selected every year to receive free lasic eye surgery!

This is great news. You see, my dad is literally "legally blind". He was planning on getting this $6,000 dollar surgery in the next 5-10 years, but now... Oh wow he is going to be in a great mood the next couple weeks!

I would attach a picture but I thought I'd save all you from the sight

$6k...thats a lot more than what I have heard and looked into ( I have 20/400 un corrected vision) I have seen the prices range between $500-$2500. Is it more since he is leagally blind? My insaurance wont cover it...they say its cosmetic surgery.....thats a cock of shit

Oh I have no clue. Never looked into it. That's just what my dad said in his excitement rant... Who knows they could have been lying to him to get him more excited.

That's awesome news! Now turn down your music so he doesn't go deaf! There's no cure for that yet!

Congrats to your pops. Strange, seems loads of us have some form of sight related issues- I myself should be wearing glasses for a slight stigmatism in my right eye, but I look stupid enough already without adding glasses to the mix...

I got Lasik surgery done a few years ago. It made a huge difference! I didn't realize how bad my sight was until it was corrected. I remember looking out the window and being amazed that I could differentiate the leaves on a tree from a distance. Crazy cool.

Congrats to your dad!
