Inferno gt 2 conversion - 01.25.2009, 11:41 AM

I just pick up a igt2 yesterday and wanted to go electric with it. Can anyone point me in the right direction with this as far as what motor mounts and motor and esc to use?

Thanks

They are going to tell you to search it out as it has been done before, but I am planning a similar conversion, but with a Ofna GTP. What kind of speed are you looking for. I plan to race Nitro's if they will allow "flashlights" on the track with the "buzzers." I plan on running a single speed @ about 45000 rpm. I liek the medusa motors but I only have one. I am planning on a 36/70 2000kv motor and run 22V to it via a Castle MMM unsing 2 3500 30c Zippy lipos in series.

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing the build. By the way - your Id looks familiar. Are you over on the IGT forums?

The rcm kyosho mount should work... As far as getting 40-90mph... You will most likely need a 2 speed (IIRC the igt2 has one) to get 90mph. You could run a mamba monster 2200kv setup on 4s and stick with 1st gear only for 40mph, then run the 2 speed with 6s lipo for speed runs. You would ne 2 lipos to do this though. Best way I can think to do it with one motor.

Maybe try the new castle 2650 with a 2 speed as well. But you would still need two sets of batteries. 4s and 6s respectively and I would only use the 6s and that motor for quick speed runs constantly monitoring the temps.

That is why I suggested the 2200 motor. Using Mike's 2 speed adapter he should be able to get the correct gearing to do about 40 in 1st with 4s and maybe 80+ in second gear on 6s. If they have some sort of smaller 2nd gear spur that would be a good choice to get max speed. And the 2200 motor will have enough torque to pull that gearing without revving too high.

That is how i would do it... I am still working on the 7h scale spped car with the 2 speed in it. Planning on running a 1800kv kb45xl motor on 6s lipo. I had mike bore one of the 2 speed adapters to 6mm for use on that motor, and will run 18/25 gearing on the adpater. My 2nd gear spur will be 49t, so should be good for 80mph or so. I just need to get to the machinist to get the 49t spur I found machined out in the center to match the stock 2nd gear shape.
