Buy Used or New Buggy? - 01.29.2009, 06:09 PM

Would you a used RC8 that has been used to practice 5 days at the track that has a bunch of king headz upgrades or a new buggy that has the big bores already?? Both are the same price.. around 375, I haven't tried to bargain with either of them.. that could make a difference.. I am contemplating buying one of these but can't decide which will be the better deal in the long run.. What do you guys think?

Depends. I kinda prefer a new vehicle so it looks all shiny for the initial photo shoot. Plus, even though the prior owner honestly knows nothing is wrong, there is always the odd thing that needs to be replaced.

Also, are the upgrades on the used one worth it, or are they going to be of any real use when converting to BL (assuming that's what you're gonna do)?

true.. I want a buggy to do mikes conversion on.. or magically come up with enough money for the rc8t that is for sale in the general section.. unless he splits it out..

the king headz are the chassis braces, steering knuckle, shock towers... etc etc

I randomly asked a guy if he was willing to sell his crt .5 without the engine, as a roller. Out of the blue he agreed and I paid a lot less then I would have if it had the engine. If he's willing to part out, it is defiantly worth it.

However, the nitro setup on a new kit should go for around 100-150 bucks. Even a used one might go for 75-100. You can factor that in too.

If I were looking for the same thing I would have jumped on that. It'd be hard to find a deal thats much better.

I bought it.. it looks like it was hardly used.. and I can sell some of the nitro stuff and be in it even cheaper.. I am debating on what I should do for a motor..

I already have a 1515 2.5d in my truggy and a 1521 laying on the bench.. I was thinking to save money about swapping the motor and putting the 1515 in the buggy and other in the truggy.. Do you think if I geared it down I would be able to get the same run time in the truggy with the 1521? or would it out of control on a track.. not like I ever am in control. All of my batteries are 5s..

Do buggys wheels have different off sets like truggy wheels do?

I am looking and don't see them mentioning and off set like you do with truggy wheels...

I say keep your motors and do the swap like you're thinking. Ideally the buggy would have the 1512, but you've already got the two motors sitting there so you might as well use them.

Sweet buggy by the way.
