Also check out the www.suprastore.com for info and parts. Great cars, but you really need to understand what you are getting into. Chances are on the Supra, if it can be done, it has been done. Learn from others mistakes and experiences and by no means buy this thinking of a 2JZ conversion. It is way too cost prohibitive.

I absolutely love supras. Our family has had over 20 ranging from 84 (back when they were celica supras) to 98. I had a 94 tt in high school. They are great cars. Just like everyone else said the 7m motor is notorious head gasket failures. Once you address that issue they purr like a kitten.

They are nice. I used to have a 92 with manual tranny which blew up the headgasket. Ask the seller if the HG had been replaced. If not, forget about it. If you can find a 94-98, get them. They are way better.

By the way, I was surprised to find out that the JDM supras(87-92) use 2 small turbos instead of a single big one like what's was sold for the US market. I bought a 92 here in Japan back in 2006 for $800(sailor was leaving for his next duty station) but had to sell it for a bigger car when my daughter was born in 2007. It can hang on with the Skylines (GTR only) and beat the crap of the Skyline GT-S.

I sure hope this is a step up from my century. I am sending the guy half the cash this weekend so he can hold it for me. I will be paying him the rest asap. I also told him to take out the stock turbo. He dropped the price $100 so its at exactly $2000 now. Im going to buy another 8-10lb turbo with wastegate, blow out valve, all the connections, new digital boost gauge, and all the hookups. Ill let you guys know how it goes. Oh and the car comes with some older worn tires. Im going get a video burning out and drifting in a parking lot to get rid of the old tires.


Is their any way possible to fix the blown header/gasket issue? If so how cheap will the fix be?

Replace it is the only option. Their are many options of what to replace it with from stock items after market parts. I would recommend looking into a head gasket meant to handle the boost you are wanting to push. Again www.suprastore.com will be a help.

Probably a good time to replace the timing belt as well while the head is off. Also remember that if you are going to upgrade the turbo you need to start looking into bigger fuel injectors and a higher capacity fuel pump. Possibly even a better oil pump and so forth. This can get expensive quick. Think RC times 100!!!

If you do the research (which you won't) you will find the MAF will not handle much more airflow than it does stock.. All the boost in the world will not matter if you run it lean due to imroper fuel/air delivery. Keep the stock turbo for now, and do the other upgrades. SOGI (supra owners group international) is a good place for the DIY fixes and mods. A bigger turbo with more boost will require the fuel system to be upgraded... Plus you can get more boost from the stock turbo with a boost controller.

Don't listen to me though, I have certainly not owned 3 rx7s, 2 3000gt vr4s 1 stealt r/t, 1 lotus espri, and a handful of other turbo cars...

Thats why Im only doing a 8-10lb turbo like you stated I should do... Because the stock gaskets/header wont be able to handle anything more in stock form.

The stock head gasket cannot handle the stock turbo and stock boost. Start reading Jr...
