Strange VXL ESC problem - 02.11.2009, 11:00 PM

Hooked up my VXL system on my rustler on 3s, I've read the traxxas manual to no avail. I took a video of my problem. My problem is that I hit the throttle from a stop and nothing happens. If I do this a few times it works fine. This only happens at no throttle and the motor does nothing. Also, my VXL has no arming tones, is this normal?

Video:

Check all of the connections between the motor/ESC.

I have never owned the VXL system, so I am not sure if its supposed to have arming tones, but it is possible that your radio is having trouble finding the receiver... as if they are out of range. Exact same thing happened in a buddies Savage. Ended up sending his radio system in for warranty...

I dont think that is the problem, this radio/rx works at ~1000ft on other vehicles.

Time to send 'er away to TRX, me thinks... I take it you have already tried re-binding the radio to the ESC. (?)

I think it is related to cogging. I would give traxxas a call.

Definitely time to E-Mail Traxxas, the ESC will probably need to be replaced.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

The VXL gives no arming tones. Send it away to traxxas, it's not worth fiddling with it if it's got a Traxxas warrenty.

The vxl's i had (two of them) had the same issue, I think it was a sleep mode. If you let it set for more than 30 or so seconds, it would go into sort of a sleep mode to conserve power. There was never a cog issue in mine, so i assumed it was just a quark of the VXL system. Both did this, so i assume its in the programming

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

when I first had my Rustler(stock VXL) I tried the stock ESC and I had nothing but problems with it, in addition to what you are expierencing one of the leads became disconnected, (you cant resolder back to ESC) I decieded to accept itas a loss, and ditched the VXL ESC and replaced with a MM ESC and CC BEC and than ran it on 4s.
