Anyone use a Vantage Carbon Fiber chassis w/ their revo? -
02.14.2009, 11:34 PM
I was looking at the extended chassis for my Revo 3.3 from Vantage....I know that it isn't cheap, but are they worth it? They have an extended chassis, is it longer than the 3.3 chassis?

IDK. But if this is a Nitro 3.3 instead of a 3.3 convert then why is it in the Brushless forum?

Maybe because he's converting it like his sig states?
The Vantage chassis' are pretty strong, but, I have seen one broken in a stock nitro 3.3. Simply from doing jumps, mind you they were pretty big, but, it still broke.
It'll make your Revo twist less than the stock alloy job.

I am converting one! All I want to know if the chassis is strong enough to hold up the BL power and if it is longer than a 3.3 chassis

Sorry for using my brain to anticipate that if someone posts in a BL thread that they are in the midst of converting yet another car to the mighty power of brushless.
I'm pretty sure Vantage put out two, one for the 2.5 & one for the 3.3. They're the same length as the stock alloy.

I like that chassis but how do you make it BL with that big ass hole in the middle of the chassis?

getting back to the Vantage chsssis question....IMO I don"t like carbon fiber. It is light and stiff, in some applications this is good but when it comes to BL MTs that is not good, we have a tendencie to abuse them. I like the stock steel or plastic (flexing is good). I don't know if the Vantage is any longer. Also Carbon fiber is a conductive material ...it can mess with your radio reception especially if you run an AM radio

I was a little concerned about chassis flex..As you stated, some flex is good. And yes, I have every tendency to abuse the truck, for if I wasn't, why build it?

That's right, carbon fibre is not much lighter & in some cases the same weight as the original alloy component, but, is much more rigid.
Great for racing. Bashing..........hmmmmmm, the one I saw broken was used bashing & cracked across the middle where the front shocks are.
Stick to the alloy & save yourself some bucks. Better off spending that moula on batteries or a high quality motor.

Actually I have decided to stick w/the alloy chassis and buy the hybrid cases when Mike restocks them and use 1/8 diffs!

Look up Revo 3.3 parts for the chassis as it's a stock item.
