center diff in rc8t ?'s - 02.10.2009, 12:00 PM

do you have to change gearing in center diff if you change spur gear?

i put on the 46t spur gear and had a GREAT time with the rc8t...i love this truck...it actually ran cool but after about 15 minutes it heated to 150 so i let it cool for a while and ran the Dual BL!!...GOOD TIMES!!

when i put the diff together with the new 46 gear i did not install shims...after 5-10 minutes i noticed center diff crunching a little and installed 3 small shims...it seems to be smooth now

1)is my diff beat?
2)i have several UE spider 8's...will they work and should i install one?

Gorgeous truck! Personally I would take the diff apart and inspect the gears for damage..

1. Open it up and check the bevel gears.
2. 8 spider ofna center diffs will work.

would someone mind explaining a little more about this original question. i also have a BL RC8T and i run the 46t spur gear but i never changed a thing to my center diff. everything seems smooth and sweet. should i have changed something in the diff when i went from the stock 54t to the 46t????

No, unless the diff bevel gears themselves are broken.
